The poem inspired by today’s prompt (clock wise) is a rather flippant, but I think there’s something a little dark and sad beneath the surface.

Borrowed time comes due
she used to set
the minute hand ahead just enough
to keep her on time when she ran late
now she turns
her face to the wall, covered by both hands
to hide how much time has passed

Ugh, I am starting to really feel aging in how I feel and when I look in the mirror. So this hit home.
The poet in me is glad this spoke to you, but the middle-aged woman in me winces a little and wants to pour us each a glass of wine.
And then a 2nd one.
Oh, we should definitely polish off the whole bottle. Who has room in the fridge for a half-empty bottle of wine? 😉
